Discover Athens with locals, without locals! 

Here are some habits of Athenians, not depending on their age. 

  1. Frappe for breakfast at any cafe-restaurant. The price is app. 4-5 euros
  2. Water is served for free on the table in any restaurant- cafe across Greece. 
  3. Lunch is served around 1-2 at noon, even later. 
  4. Dinner is consumed late at night, after 21.00. many restaurants close at 01.00 and their kitchen is open until 23.00. 
  5. Food shopping at Laiki Open markets. Around the streets of Athens producers sell their products directly to people, in better prices that super markets. 
  6. Watching football and basketball matches at cafes. 
  7. Arguing loudly in public. If you listen people shouting, don’t exclude conclusions that fast. Please understand that Greeks argue often and more loud than other Europeans. 
  8. Participating in strikes, on specific dates, like May 1st.
  9. Attend Greek Easter, Πασχα, as it is called in Greek, the biggest celebration of Orthodox Christianity (for Catholics, it is Christmas).
