Aggeliki Hatzimihali Museum
A neoclassical -traditional- modern museum at Plaka
Apart from the typical classical Greek museums, there are some quite special and interesting as well- unfortunately, unknown to most of us. One of them is the Chatzimihali museum, located at the center of Plaka.
Aggeliki Hatzimihali was a real pioneer of her times. She left a huge heritage to us, that is gathered in her former house, today’s museum. The building was built between 1924 and 1929 and is a unique building.
Aggeliki was trying to unite Greek Folk Art with the Athens urban class of the 1930s, so she tried to expose craftsmen to the industrial and intellectual elite class of Athens. Her house was the meeting point of these two different cultures, someone that is still alive today. The building today is owned by the Municipality of Athens and the entrance is free to all. Don’t miss the chance to visit it!!!!
The museum is open from Tuesday to Friday from 9.00-19.00, on weekends from 9.00-14.00
You can call the museum in order to arrange a visit on +302103243987
The entrance is free.
