Acropolis Rock
Athens Agora was located under Acropolis during archaic times, around 600 BC archaeologists say. During Theseus’ era, Agora was to the West corner of Acropolis but during Solon times, it was transferred to the north of Acropolis.
Acropolis was inhabited since Neolithic times and it was fortified later, during Mycenean times. The Dorian invasion left the city intact, something different from the rest of Mycenean citadels as Pylos, Mycenea and more especially around Peloponnesus.
Temple of Parthenon
Parthenon project was a Pericles’ idea -or his wife Aspasia- in order to create eternal glory for the city of Athens. After the Persian Wars, Athenians made the Delian League, a NATO of its time. With these final resources, all the money was invested in the reconstruction of Acropolis.
The Parthenon was built in just 8 years and all the classical art forms, mathematics and architecture can be seen there.
Parthenon Destruction from Morozini
During the Ottoman- Venetian Wars and specifically in 1687, Venetians were sieging Acropolis and bombed Parthenon, that was exploded, since it was used as a gun powder storage from the Ottomans.
